UFC 116 weigh-in results: Lesnar and Carwin each weigh 265 pounds

LAS VEGAS – MMAjunkie.com was on scene and reporting live from today’s official UFC 116 fighter
weigh-ins, where all 22 event competitors successful made weight for Saturday’s show.

Today’s festivities took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and online and via Spike TV.

Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and interim title-holder Shane Carwin both weighed 265 pounds for their headlining title-unification bout.

Heavyweights Cheick Kongo vs. Travis Browne targeted for UFC 120

A heavyweight contest pitting Cheick Kongo against prospect Travis Browne is expected for UFC 120.

Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com that the fighters have verbally agreed to the bout and are expected to put pen to paper shortly.

UFC 120 takes place Oct. 16 at the O2 Arena in London and airs via same-day delay on Spike TV.

Anthony Njokuani gets WEC newcomer Maciej Jewtuszko on WEC 50 prelims

A lightweight bout between Anthony Njokuani and promotional newcomer Maciej Jewtuszko will be part of next month’s WEC 50 event.

The Las Vegas Sun first reported the bout earlier today.

MMAjunkie.com has since confirmed that bout agreements will be signed shortly and that the fight will be part of the Aug. 18 event’s un-aired preliminary card.

UFC 116 early fighters salaries: Lesnar makes flat $400K, Carwin could make $80K

Win or lose, Brock Lesnar makes $400,000 at Saturday’s UFC 116 event, and Shane Carwin makes a base pay of $40,000 that could double to $80,000 if he’s victorious and gets his win bonus.

Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer today emailed the early salary figures to MMAjunkie.com.

Additionally, co-headliner Chris Leben earns $43,000 to show with a $43,000 win bonus possible, and opponent Yoshihiro Akiyama gets $45,000 to show with a potential $25,000 as a win bonus.

C.B. Dollaway vs. Joe Doerksen targeted for UFC 119 in Indianapolis

C.B. Dollaway and Joe Doerksen are on tap for the UFC’s first trip to Indiana.

The middleweights have agreed to face each other at UFC 119, which takes place Sept. 25 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. MMAjunkie.com today confirmed that verbal agreements are in place but that bout agreements have not been signed for the fight, which was first reported by topmmanews.com.

It’s not clear if the fight will be part of the night’s main card or preliminary card.

DREAM.15 adds Nakamura vs. Amoussou, Omigawa vs. Jung, Ishida vs. Hata

With the event just a week away, DREAM officials have added four official bouts to the hard-to-fill DREAM.15 fight card.

Bouts include middleweights Karl Amoussou vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura, featherweights Michihiro Omigawa vs. Young Sam Jung, and featherweights Mitsuhiro Ishida vs. Daiki “DJ.taiki” Hata.

Additionally, a light-heavyweight bout MMAjunkie.com previously reported between light heavyweight Gegard Mousasi and Jake O’Brien also was made official.

Strikeforce CEO eyeing Melvin Manhoef for Cung Le’s middleweight tourney slot

Another pound of dynamite could be added to Strikeforce’s upcoming eight-man middleweight tournament.

Scott Coker, the promotion’s CEO, told MMAjunkie.com today that he plans to invite fearsome striker Melvin Manhoef to the field, which is expected to begin Aug. 21 at “Strikeforce: Houston.”

Coker added that former middleweight champion Cung Le will not participate in the tourney and will stick to “superfights.”
